The Act of Remembering by Brian Postalian
Presented as part of Whitehorse Nuit Blanche, June 2016
The Act of Remembering was an interactive installation that invited audience members to help piece together the people and history that have shaped who they are. It was Inspired by Brian's late grandparents - immigrants who fled from the Armenian genocide. We asked ourselves and audiences the question of whether or not, through the act of collective remembering, could we (re)create the ancestors we never knew? How much of our nostalgia for our grandparents is selective remembering? And how long will it be until they are completely forgotten?
